Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technician to join our perioperative team. The role collaborates with surgeons and staff to deliver high-quality patient care, prepare sterile fields, and assist with procedures while following infection prevention standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining OR readiness, instrument handling, counts, and supplies management. Ideal candidates have 0-2 years OR experience and relevant technical education.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and aseptic techniques.
• Strong understanding of sterilization methods and infection prevention practices.
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain operating room for surgical cases with proper aseptic technique.
• Assist surgical team by passing instruments and supplies efficiently.
• Ensure proper sterilization, inspection and assembly of instruments.
• Perform post-use cleaning and instrument counts with circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assist in patient positioning, draping, and transfers.
• Maintain physician preference cards to ensure availability of supplies.
• Reprocess and sterilize instruments following established protocols.
• Restock supplies and prepare ORs for subsequent cases.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
