Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases, ensuring equipment, instruments, and supplies are organized and available.
• Assists the surgical team by anticipating the surgeon's needs and passing instruments and supplies accurately.
• Handles surgical instruments according to instructions for use, ensuring sterilization, inspection, and assembly.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfer methods to ensure safety and comfort.
• Maintains physician preference cards to ensure accurate supplies for procedures.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and sterilizes surgical instruments following established protocols.
• Restocks supplies and returns equipment to storage to keep ORs ready for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with policies and standards.
