Qualificações

• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to assist and anticipate physician needs.
• Knowledge of various surgical equipment and aseptic techniques; ability to operate sterilization equipment.
• Care for patients across the lifespan with consideration of aging processes and cultural patterns.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or associate degree program.
• Current CST certification or NCCT-TC certification.
• 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist within past 5 years.
• Successful completion of Brown University Health on-the-job surgical technologist training program.
• Successful completion of the CCRI certificate surgical technologist program.
• Current BLS Certification is required upon hire.

Responsabilidades

• Assists in preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring instruments, equipment and supplies are available and properly stored.
• Assists nursing personnel and orderlies in lifting and positioning patients for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs on all types of surgical procedures and passes in instruments, sutures and sponges; assists in holding retractor and suctioning patients.
• Maintains strict aseptic techniques in the operating room area and reports any breaks in such techniques.
• Cleans surgical instruments and equipment after procedures using sterilization equipment (autoclaves/ultrasonic); wraps and stores equipment.
• Removes soiled linen and supplies; stocks surgical supplies in operating rooms and storage areas.
• Sets up room for next procedure and obtains special equipment from storage areas.
• Removes unused supplies from surgery cart and stores them appropriately.
