Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare and maintain the operating room, ensure sterility, and assist with instrument processing. You will collaborate with the OR circulator to execute the plan of care and support each procedure from setup to turnover.

Required are CST certification and BLS, with 1–5 years of prior experience preferred. Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization is essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required.
• CST certification and BLS required.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control and sterilization procedures.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates surgeon needs and maintains surgeon's preference cards.
• Processes instruments and equipment for the operating room.
• Performs surgical counts and assists in room turnover.
• Prepares and maintains sterile field and supplies.
• Transfers supplies and instruments as needed within sterile field.
• Handles specimen processing and assists in instrument decontamination.
