Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program, or an associate degree program.
• Current CST certification, or NCCT-TC certification (military experience considered).
• 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist in the past 5 years.
• Successful completion of Brown University Health on-the-job surgical technologist training.
• Successful completion of Community College of Rhode Island's certificate program.

Responsibilities

• Functions in the surgical scrub role and assists surgeon.
• Preps and passes needles, sutures, drains, medications, and hemostatic agents.
• Maintains asepsis and proper sterile field setup.
• Utilizes resources efficiently to optimize OR time.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Keeps current BLS certification and engages in continuing education.
