Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to assist and anticipate physician needs.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and ability to operate sterilization equipment.
• Demonstrated care for patients across the life span in clinical settings.
• Completion of Brown University Health on-the-job surgical technologist training preferred.
• Completion of the Community College of Rhode Island certificate surgical technologist program preferred.
• Current BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Assist nursing staff with lifting and positioning patients.
• Scrub on procedures, pass instruments, and hold retractors as needed.
• Maintain aseptic technique and correct breaks when observed.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after procedures.
• Remove soiled linen, restock, and set up rooms for next case.
• Stock supplies and obtain equipment from storage areas.
