Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform duties in the scrub role and support the operating room team. The role includes preparing sterile fields, maintaining boundaries, and assisting the physician with sponging, suctioning, retracting, and suturing as directed.

A graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years scrub experience is expected, along with CPR certification, and on-call availability.

Qualifications

• Graduate of surgical technologist program or 2 years of surgical scrub experience.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Completely prepares sterile field in a timely manner and maintains sterile boundaries.
• Assists physician by sponging, suctioning, retracting and cutting sutures as required.
• Maintains on-call availability and responds to emergencies as needed.
• Acts as a patient advocate and ensures patient safety in accordance with hospital policies.
• Assists with opening sterile supplies and instruments and helps with cleanup and turnover of cases.
