Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist surgeons, prepare operative fields, and train other technologists and students. The role includes scrubbing, running Mayo, and participating in diverse specialties.

Ideal candidates will have BLS certification, a surgical technology credential and an associate degree. On-call duties and strict adherence to sterile technique are expected.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire (AHA).
• Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology required.
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entry.
• Organize back table and Mayo stand for efficient case flow.
• Manage supplies and anticipate case needs; provide timely items.
• Precept and mentor surgical techs and RNs during procedures.
• Assist in first scrub, first assist, and second scrub roles as needed.
• Contribute to case turnover and post-case dressing and transfer activities.
• Train students and new technologists and adapt style to surgeon preferences.
• Remain prepared for intraoperative events and emergency adjustments.
• Maintain patient privacy and communicate needs clearly.
