Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room, maintain sterile technique, and scrub in for various surgical cases including general, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics. 12-hour shifts, 0700–1900, full-time.

The role requires graduation from an accredited surgical technology program (or LPN with surgical experience); CST is preferred but not required in Iowa, with certification within 18 months if working in Illinois. BLS mandatory.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
• LPN with surgical experience or equivalent competency.
• BLS certification; CST preferred but not required in Iowa; certification required within 18 months if in Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for procedures, including instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field during surgery and scrub in as needed for multiple specialties.
• Adhere to MercyOne performance expectations and support department goals.
