Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Tech for the Aurora Medical Center-Summit OR. This full-time day-position offers 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts with weeknight, weekend, and holiday call as needed.

You will assist surgeons across orthopedics, ENT, plastics, general, gynecology, neuro/spine, and robotics, serving a pediatric to geriatric patient population. Responsibilities include aseptic setup, instrument handling, room preparation, and support as a second assistant when required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.
• No experience required.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provides a clean, safe area conducive to optimal patient care and maintains sterile field.
• Assists in a wide range of surgical procedures and prepares instruments and supplies.
• Sets up and disinfects the operating room and positions equipment as needed.
• Functions as a Second Assistant when required.
• Transports patients and equipment, ensuring proper handling and safety.
• Maintains and checks specialty carts and stock; reports issues.
