Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our perioperative team, providing technical support under RN supervision in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include sterile technique, instrument handling, and assisting with patient care during the perioperative period; requires NBSTSA certification or 5 years of equivalent experience, with a hospital-based program and BLS.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification required or 5 years of surgical tech experience with no certification.
• High School or equivalent and surgical technology education completed.
• Technical diploma or associate degree in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical support in the perioperative period under RN supervision.
• Maintain sterile technique and prepare instrumentation and equipment.
• Assist with patient care activities and ensure safety in the OR.

Summary:
The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.

The Staffing Resource Office (SRO) offers 13–26-week seasonal/system assignments where you are assigned to one hospital in our system. Hospital assignment placement is based on needs of the system. SEASONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIRES PERMANENT RESIDENCE OUTSIDE OF OUR LOCAL MARKET.

High School or Equivalent and completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program and 1-year surgical technician experience OR High School or Equivalent and completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

1-year surgical technology experience in hospital setting with NBSTSA certification; Or - 5 years' experience if no certification.

High School or Equivalent

Technical Diploma or Associates in Surgical Technology

BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Skills also includes Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up.

Shift Hours: 630am-5pm but can vary

Weekend Work: Occasional

On Call: Yes (MUST LIVE WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF HOSPITAL)
