Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to render direct patient care under RN supervision during surgical interventions, ensuring sterile technique and timely supply of instruments to the surgical team.

You will prepare the operative area, maintain aseptic environment, assist with room setup and turnover, and ensure proper handling of specimens and instruments. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program preferred.
• Completion of UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program preferred.
• Hospital-based surgical technologist training program completed.
• Military training program in surgical technology graduates welcome.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment throughout procedure.
• Passes instruments, sponges, sutures to surgeon and assistants; counts items.
• Receives and handles surgical specimens as directed.
• Prepares operating room and assists with turnover.
• Installs cleaning, reprocessing and storage of instruments and equipment.
