Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the operating room by delivering clean, sterile instrumentation and supplies. This role covers decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with a focus on safety and quality.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or GED and up to one year of healthcare experience; certification in Sterile Processing within 12 months is required.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and patients.
• Experience handling reusable instruments and maintaining sterility.
• Familiarity with related safety and HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone promptly and assists callers with items needed.
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for procedures.
• Delivers sterile and non-sterile instrumentation and equipment across the hospital.
• Keeps back-up case carts stocked and ready for use.
• Performs cleaning, decontamination, and packaging of instruments.
• Operates processing equipment and performs sterilization monitoring.
• Maintains department safety, cleanliness, and organization.
