Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the surgical team under RN supervision, providing sterile instruments and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.

You will prepare the operative area, pass instruments, assist with specimen handling, and help with room turnover while adhering to HIPAA and hospital policies. Prior patient care experience and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program preferred.
• Completion of hospital or military training in surgical technology preferred.
• Completion of UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operative area and maintains sterile field throughout procedures.
• Passes instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeon and surgical team.
• Receives and handles surgical specimens as directed by surgeon.
• Cleans, reprocesses, and stores instruments and equipment after cases.
• Assists with room turnover and setup for cases.
