Job summary

UofL Health, Inc. seeks a Surgical Technician for UofL Hospital, OR. Shift 6A-4:30P in Louisville, KY. Provides direct patient care under RN supervision, maintains sterile field, and prepares instruments for surgery.

Responsibilities include passing instruments, handling specimens, room setup, turnover, and patient positioning. Requires HS diploma, and graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program preferred.
• Completion of a UofL Health Surgical Technologist or hospital-based program preferred.
• Military training in surgical technology is acceptable.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operative area, maintains sterile field and aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeon and assistants; counts supplies.
• Receives and handles surgical specimens as directed.
• Sets up operating room and assists with turnover between cases.
• Transfers and positions patients as directed by surgeon or nurse; maintains confidentiality.
