Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team. The role collaborates with the surgeon to prepare and maintain sterile fields and assist with procedures.

You will ensure instrument sterilization and counts, support infection prevention, and help with positioning, draping, and turnover. BCLS is required; CST is preferred; prior OR experience is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical cases with asepsis.
• Assist by passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon accurately.
• Sterilize, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments.
• Perform instrument counts with the circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assist in patient positioning, draping, and transfers.
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure supplies are ready.
• Reprocess and sterilize instruments per protocol.
• Restock supplies and ensure rooms are ready for next cases.
• Adhere to policies and standards.
• Maintain regular attendance.
