Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technician – Certified to support the operating room team. You will prepare the sterile field, anticipate needs, and ensure proper handling of instruments and supplies to maintain patient safety and procedural readiness.

Responsibilities include instrument counting, assisting with positioning, and maintaining equipment readiness and documentation. Requires CST certification and BLS, with 0–2 years OR experience in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required; BLS required.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the OR with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments promptly.
• Handles and sterilizes instruments per policy and manufacturer instructions.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans/returns equipment for next cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
