Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Current licensure as LPN or completion of Surg Tech Trainee program with at least 6 months in job, or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program, or RN program, or two years of scrub experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up operating room for scheduled cases with needed supplies and instrumentation.
• Assist in safe transport and proper positioning of the patient on the OR table.
• Adhere to national patient safety goals by confirming surgical site and procedure.
• Scrub in and assist with gowning and gloving of personnel.
• Count instruments, sharps, and sponges; pass instruments to the surgeon as needed.
• Assist in endoscopic procedures with proper positioning and sanitation of scopes.
• Decontaminate surgical instrumentation after use.
• Monitor autoclave function for instrument sterilization.
• Respect patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Stock the operating room and assist the RN/Physician as needed.
