Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV, is seeking qualified OR support staff to serve as a scrub person assisting the surgical team. The role requires completing an LPN, Surgical Technology, or RN program, or a high school diploma with six months scrub experience, plus BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred candidates have Surgical Technology experience and are able to maintain sterile technique, assist with instrument handling, and support the circulating RN throughout operative

Qualifications

• Completion of an LPN program, OR Surgical Technology program, OR RN program, OR high school diploma with six months scrub experience.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Prior Surgical Technology experience preferred.
• Ability to stand long periods and assist in sterile/non-sterile roles in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes aseptic technique in both sterile and non-sterile roles in the OR.
• Assists circulating RN to maintain a sterile field during procedures.
• Performs sponge, instrument, and needle counts with the RN per guidelines.
• Assists with gowning/gloving and positioning equipment and instruments.
• Passes sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists with patient transportation and positioning under surgeon guidance.
• Prepares supplies/equipment per preference cards and maintains inventory.
