Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist surgeons, prepare instruments, and maintain sterile fields across procedures. The role supports teaching and mentoring of nurses, RNs, and students, with on-call expectations as needed.

The candidate should hold an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate of Completion and maintain BLS certification, with strong teamwork and organizational skills to ensure efficient case flow.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology awarded.
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology completed or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific operative procedures timely and efficiently.
• Ensure instruments and sutures are complete, functional, and ready.
• Set up sterile field and scrub before patient enters the room.
• Assist in removing and organizing Mayo stand for case turnover.
• Precept RNs and staff, mentor students in surgical cases.
• Perform first scrub, first assist, and second scrub roles as needed.
