Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Enrolled in accredited surgical technician program or recent graduate awaiting CST.
• CST certification required within 90 days of program completion.
• Must pass competencies for the position.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate clearly with nursing, administration, and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Assist the OR RN in preparing the room for surgery; open sterile packages and ensure supplies are available.
• Scrub for surgeries and assist physicians by handing instruments and retractors.
• Assist in placing the patient on the OR table.
• Order and stock supplies; pull as needed.
• Assist with cleaning the surgical suite and related areas.
• Maintain asepsis; prepare sterile field and gowning/gloving.
• Pass instruments and assist under supervision.
• Transport and position patients under direction of a practitioner.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team; participate in QA initiatives.
• Attend departmental meetings and workshops; perform other duties as assigned.
