Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech for the Day shift in the Operating Room to assist the surgeon during exposure, hemostasis and intraoperative tasks. This role may include local infiltration and vessel harvesting as directed by the surgeon.

Required are CST certification, BLS, and at least six months to one year of CST/CSA/ CFA experience, plus strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• CST certification and two years of first assisting preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• NRP certification within six months of hire.
• Must read, write and speak English with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Determines specific equipment needed per surgical procedure.
• Reviewing permit to confirm procedure and special needs and participating in “time out.”
• Assists in moving and positioning the patient.
• Inserts and removes of foley urinary catheter.
• Maintains the integrity of sterile field.
• Closes wound layers and assists in resuscitation if needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the surgeon.
