Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• CST with current certification and two years of first assisting preferred.
• Credentialed by LCC-ST or NSAA as CST/CFA/CSA or CST with certification and eligibility to take exam.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values to staff and patients.
• Determines equipment needed for each surgical procedure.
• Reviews permit and participates in time-out procedures.
• Assists in moving and positioning the patient.
• Inserts/removes Foley catheter as needed.
• Places pneumatic tourniquet correctly.
• Confirms procedure with surgeon and assists in maintaining sterile field.
• Retracts tissues to provide optimal visualization during surgery.
• Maintains hemostasis with appropriate instruments and agents.
• Harvests saphenous vein as directed.
• Assists in resuscitation during cardiac events in OR.
• Inserts femoral arterial line as directed.
• Performs other duties incident to the procedure.
