Job summary

Ascension Sacred Heart Gulf in Port Saint Joe, FL seeks a Surgical Technologist to prep operating rooms, hand instruments, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures. You will support patient safety with positioning, draping, and hemostasis alongside the surgical team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience, an active BLS certification, and preferably scrub tech credentials.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire date (AHA or Red Cross accepted).
• Certified scrub tech preferred or at least 1 year of scrub tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate the sterile operating environment by preparing surgical suites with precise sterile and non-sterile instrumentation, equipment, and supplies tailored to specific surgical cases.
• Partner directly with surgical teams by anticipating physician needs and handing instruments, sponges, and supplies during complex surgical procedures.
• Maintain rigorous surgical safety and asset tracking by organizing instruments and conducting precise counts to prevent retained items.
• Assist with patient preparation, transfer, positioning, sterile draping, and intraoperative hemostasis to support patient safety.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
