Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Dekalb in Smithville, TN seeks a Surgical Technician to facilitate safe, efficient surgical procedures and prepare the operating suite with sterile drapes, instruments, and supplies. You will assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients and maintain instrument counts throughout procedures.

Requirements include NBSTSA credential and BLS certification, with a day/PRN schedule in a surgical services department at Ascension Saint Thomas Dekalb.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the NBSTSA obtained prior to hire date.
• Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
