Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Surgical Technician for Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo in Kokomo, IN. The role supports the surgical team by preparing the operating room with sterile drapes, instruments, and supplies, passing instruments to the surgeon, and assisting with patient positioning and draping.

Key requirements include a BLS certification within 30 days and Surgical Tech credentials (NCCT or NBSTSA) before hire. This on-site, day-shift opportunity participates in a dedicated surgical department.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Surgical Tech credential from NCCT or NBSTSA required prior to hire.

• Hand instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain and track instruments counts throughout procedures.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
