Job summary

Lompoc Valley Medical Center seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Services team. You will conduct pre-operative preparation, coordinate perioperative care, and support post-operative discharge for patients across all ages, with emphasis on Surgical and GI lab procedures.

Qualified candidates hold a California RN license, have leadership experience in surgical settings, and possess ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Qualifications

Current California RN license for practice.
Experience caring for patients in surgical services with demonstrated leadership.
Surgery process knowledge; Circulator in Surgery or PACU experience preferred.
ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.
Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organization and prioritization.
LVMC reserves right to modify minimum requirements as needed.

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive nursing assessments in Pre‑Op, GI Lab, and OPS areas after orientation.
Plans and implements perioperative care for surgical patients.
Screens discharge planning needs and initiates referrals as needed.
Evaluates pre‑admission testing and medication reconciliations.
Notifies attending surgeon and anesthesia of abnormal pre‑op findings and enacts action plans.
