Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Surgical Nurse to join University Medical Center in Louisiana. You will be the bridge between patient, surgeon, and anesthesia, preparing patients for surgery and delivering comprehensive perioperative care.

Your duties include reviewing history, providing patient care and support, documenting care, and monitoring patients post-operatively for pain and infection while maintaining safety and clear communication throughout the care continuum.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Operating room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for surgery, review history, and provide care including supplies, medications, positioning, vital signs, and health assessments.
• Perform required clinical documentation and post-operative assessments.
• Monitor patient after surgery for pain and infection, following infection control and environment of care requirements.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate to identify and meet overall patient care needs and ensure prompt, safe task completion.
• Maintain a safe environment and ensure continuity of care, throughput, and clear communication.
