Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator in Santa Monica, CA for a contract role that handles pre-op and post-op scheduling, insurance verification, and authorizations. The role requires collaboration with physicians and staff to ensure seamless care and timely procedures.

You will educate patients on risks and benefits, coordinate with OR scheduling, and manage inquiries while supporting patients before, during, and after surgery.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience with surgery/procedure scheduling.
• 1 year of experience with insurance authorizations.
• Experience with Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Handles all scheduling for patient including pre-op and post-op appointments, verifying insurance, obtaining surgery authorizations, health clearances for the patient.
• Reviews with patient the risks and benefits of surgery per Doctors orders and enrolls patient in education classes prior to surgery.
• Acts as primary point of contact for patient and liaison with physician, patient and other departments.
• Ensures all arrangements for each surgical procedure including special equipment requested by physician.
• Responds to patient inquiries and complaints, provides service recovery and elevates issues as needed.
