Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources in San Antonio, TX seeks a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to manage all aspects of the surgery process, including insurance verification, pre-operative authorizations, and scheduling pre-op labs and tests. You will coordinate post-surgery care with surgeons and hospital staff.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in a physician-office setting with surgery-scheduling experience; CMA preferred, CPR required; travel to support other offices may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• CMA preferred, CPR required.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a physician office with previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan, and the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program's Code of Conduct.
• Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual plans prior to surgery.
• Obtain medical clearances and coordinate preoperative testing in concert with surgeons and per hospital protocols.
• Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain necessary information for surgery scheduling.
• Confirm and reschedule return appointments, as necessary.
• Notify manager with patient account and insurance issues.
• Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed; other duties as assigned.
