Job summary

Ophthalmology Associates is seeking a Surgical Coordinator to schedule office-based and hospital procedures, ensuring clear financial communication and patient support throughout the surgical process. The role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and strong customer service in a fast-paced eye care setting.

The position involves coordination with providers, hospitals, and anesthesia groups, with attention to insurance, pre-authorization, and patient education.

Qualifications

• This position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders.
• Experience in financial counseling is highly preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public is required.
• Must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner.
• Individual must be organized, and be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Schedules office- and hospital-based medical procedures for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot.
• Check every patient chart for insurance benefits, prepare a cost summary and counsel patients regarding finances.
• Counsel patients for Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center.
• Follow up/collect for surgery payments.
• Interfaces with appropriate hospital staff to ensure a cohesive working relationship in providing patient care serves.
