Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking an experienced Scheduling Coordinator to direct and coordinate the surgical scheduling activities for clinic physicians.

Under supervision, you will ensure continuity of care and act as a liaison between the department and other surgical and financial areas. The role requires at least 2 years in ambulatory healthcare, customer service, and experience with third-party payors, with a focus on accurate pre-operative scheduling,

Qualifications

• 2 years working in an Ambulatory Healthcare environment.
• 2 years customer service experience.
• 2 years working with third party payors (insurance carriers).

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the scheduling of pre-operative appointments including preadmission testing, history and physical, and related tests or services.
• Attends and participates in Referral Coordinator and Surgical Coordinator training sessions and meetings.
• Instructs patients on administrative, financial and preoperative processes.
• Verifies insurance coverage, obtains authorization, submits information and communicates with patient, vendors, surgeon and hospital about the surgical plan.
• Provides excellent customer service for patients/families/representatives and care team.
• Utilizes the EPIC scheduling application and external scheduling processes.
• Identifies and requests equipment or personnel required by physicians for each surgical case.
• Reviews reports to ensure procedures authorized match performed procedures; reviews after-hours surgeries as needed.
• Prepares reports, educates staff and physicians on new processes, policies and procedures.
• Participates as an active care team member in coordinating patient care.
