Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking an organized OR Scheduling/Coordinator to manage elective, urgent, add-on, and emergent procedures at Texas Medical Center. The role requires Excel proficiency, strong computer skills, and experience in hospital or physician-office scheduling.

The position supports the OR Department by coordinating blocks, verifying scheduling data, and balancing throughput with patient safety and surgeon preferences.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred, in some departments may be required.
• Ability to read and write and perform duties following oral and written instruction.
• Ability to work various shifts for extended periods as determined by the director.
• Ability to perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists the OR Environment/Holding Area Clinical Manager with planning, organizing, scheduling department workload, and making daily work assignments.
• Assists the OR Environment/Holding Area Clinical Manager with managing departmental employees: provides daily performance feedback, participates in interviews, and oversees training.
• Inspects facility condition and takes corrective actions.
• Transports and transfers patients as necessary; serves as a porter between departments ensuring timely delivery of supplies and information.
• Collaborates with Holding Area Nurse to provide staffing resources to the Holding Area.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budget.
• Promotes professional growth by supporting mandatory education and serving as a preceptor or mentor.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate care and Memoral Hermann’s service standards in daily work.
• Other duties as assigned.
