Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a scheduling specialist to manage elective surgical procedures and perioperative schedules. You will act as the frontline contact for physicians’ offices, ensuring accuracy in data entry and resource availability while upholding high customer service standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff to produce an efficient daily schedule, performing necessary reporting, and protecting patient privacy in all communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• 1 year of experience in operating room or surgical office setting.
• Excellent customer service and data-entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all elective surgical procedures and prepares perioperative schedules.
• Enters data in the computer system and verifies surgeon preferences match OR resources.
• Communicates with physicians' offices to coordinate cases and maintain schedule accuracy.
• Maintains patient privacy and adheres to safety and quality standards.
• Works with department leadership to generate standard reports and support improvement initiatives.
