Responsibilities include scheduling based on physician availability, obtaining authorizations, and communicating details to patients.

Qualifications

• 1 year of medical scheduling or related experience.
• Familiarity with EMR and scheduling software.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Understanding of social determinants of health and barriers to surgical care.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and coordinate with physician availability, OR schedules, and patient needs.
• Collects clinical information, obtains insurance, and verifies patient demographics for scheduling and testing.
• Communicate with patients regarding surgery dates, times, locations, and pre-operative instructions.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and pre-certifications; verify Medicaid/Medicare and sliding fee programs.
• Coordinate with pre-op, anesthesia, and surgical teams to ensure preparations are made.
• Maintain scheduling records and patient charts; ensure HIPAA and FQHC compliance.
• Respond to inquiries from patients, physicians, and staff regarding scheduling issues.
• Monitor and manage schedule changes, cancellations, and rescheduling as needed.
• Floats to other locations based on business needs.
