Job summary

The Scheduler collaborates with physicians, nurses, and staff to verify pre-operative requirements, documentation, and referrals, while maintaining confidentiality and efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in medical scheduling or healthcare administration.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EMR) and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and procedures based on physician availability, operating room schedules, and patient needs.
• Collect clinical information, obtain insurance, and verify demographics for scheduling.
• Communicate surgery dates, times, locations, and preoperative instructions to patients.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and pre-certifications, including Medicaid/Medicare and sliding fee programs.
• Coordinate with pre-op, anesthesia, and surgical teams for necessary preparations.
• Work with referral coordinators, care managers, and external centers to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate records in scheduling systems and patient charts.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FQHC standards, and organizational policies.
• Respond to inquiries regarding scheduling issues and changes, cancellations, or rescheduling.
• Float to other locations as needed; support multiple duties with attention to detail.
