Job summary

OrthoArizona in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate surgeries, verify patient records, and maintain physician calendars. You will communicate with patients, staff, and physicians and ensure timely scheduling and documentation.

This role requires knowledge of medical terminology, strong communication, and familiarity with practice management software. A high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of scheduling experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand and train on practice management software.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
  • Communicate information to patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Verify patient records in the medical record.
  • Coordinate equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia.
  • Maintain and update physicians' calendars.
  • Answer calls, screen voicemail, and return patient calls promptly.
  • Prepare surgical packet materials.
  • Assist in training new staff.

As a Surgical Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
  • Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
  • Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
  • Maintain and updates physician's calendars.
  • Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
  • Prepare surgical packet materials.
  • Assist in training and orienting of new staff.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
  • Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
