Job summary

OrthoArizona in Los Angeles is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate surgeries, communicate with patients, staff, and physicians, and maintain accurate records.

You will manage calendars, arrange necessary equipment and anesthesia, and support training of new staff to ensure smooth patient experiences from scheduling through post-operative follow-up.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of medical scheduling experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: 2 years of surgery scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify information and records in patient medical records.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia for surgeries.
• Maintain and update physician calendars.
• Answer calls, screen, return patient calls promptly.
• Answer questions about upcoming surgeries.
• Update patient information.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff.

As a Surgical Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
• Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
• Maintain and updates physician's calendars.
• Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
• Answer questions regarding patient's upcoming surgeries.
• Update patient information.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
