Job summary

OrthoArizona in Glendale, AZ is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to join our leading orthopedic team. You will schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries, and communicate essential details to patients, staff, and physicians while verifying information in the medical record.

You will coordinate equipment, surgical assistants, and anesthesia; maintain physician calendars; answer calls; prepare packets; and help train new staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of medical scheduling experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience with practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify information and records in patient medical records.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia.
• Maintain and updates physician calendars.
• Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

As a Surgical Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
• Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
• Maintain and updates physician's calendars.

• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
