Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Germantown, MD seeks a Registered Nurse - Surgery to join our OR team. The RN will apply the nursing process to plan and manage care for patients undergoing surgical procedures, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities include pre-operative assessments, scrubbing and circulating during procedures, collaborating with the surgical team to develop individualized care plans, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety and

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing program and RN licensure in Maryland or Compact State.
Current BLS certification.
Minimum 1 year surgical nursing experience (scrubbing and circulating).

Responsibilities

Using the Quality Caring Model, the Operating Room Nurse demonstrates expertise in planning and managing care for patients in the operating room.
Plan and deliver patient care in the surgical setting.
Collaborate with the surgical team to develop individualized care plans.
Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and physical examinations.
Perform scrub functions including instrument handling during procedures.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring and communicating patient condition.
Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
Assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation.
Educate patients and family.
Plan continuum of care.
