Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a Registered Nurse-Surgery to deliver expert operating room nursing care. You will plan and coordinate perioperative care, perform pre-operative assessments and scrub and circulate during procedures, and educate patients and families while ensuring safety and comfort.

The role requires an accredited nursing degree, RN licensure in Maryland, BLS, and at least 1 year in a surgical setting.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame).
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
BLS certification (American Heart Association).
At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating).

Responsibilities

Plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting during surgical procedures.
Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and physical exams.
Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies.
Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition.
Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
Assist with specimen collection, processing and documentation.
Educate patients and family; plan continuum of care.
