Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Germantown, MD, is seeking a Part-time Registered Nurse - Surgery for per diem/ day shift coverage in the operating room. The OR RN will apply the nursing process to plan and manage care for surgical patients, collaborate with the team, and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

The role requires a BSN- or MSN-in-progress and current Maryland RN licensure, with BLS. Minimum of 1 year in a surgical setting is preferred; experience with robotic and minimally invasive

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating).

Responsibilities

• Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates nursing process to plan and manage care of routine patients and educate patients/families.
• Collaborates with surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Perform pre-operative assessments and scrub functions including instrument handling.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.
• Educate patients and family; plan continuum of care.
