Job summary

Trinity Health's Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD seeks a Registered Nurse - Surgery to lead perioperative care in the operating room. The role emphasizes applying the nursing process, patient education, and coordination with the surgical team for safe, individualized care during invasive procedures.

You will perform pre-operative assessments, scrub and circulate duties, monitor patient status, and contribute to continuum of care planning.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)
• BSN or MSN preferred

Responsibilities

• Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
• Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team.
• Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals.
• Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinations
• Perform scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition
• Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process
• Educate patients and family
• Plan continuum of care
