Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Germantown, MD is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse-Surgery to join our operating room team. The OR RN will plan and deliver patient care, coordinate with the surgical team, and support pre-operative assessments, scrub and circulating duties, while educating patients and families.

We require an accredited nursing degree, MD RN licensure, BLS certification, and at least 1 year of surgical experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating).

Responsibilities

• Using the Nursing Process to plan and manage care in the OR and communicate with the care team.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to develop individualized care plans.
• Perform pre-operative assessments, including history review and physical exams.
• Perform scrub functions during procedures (instruments and supplies).
• Perform circulating functions: monitor and communicate patient condition.
