Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Germantown is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse - Surgery (Day Shift, 10 hours) for per diem coverage in the operating room. The OR RN will provide care for patients undergoing surgical procedures, collaborating with the team to ensure safe and well-coordinated perioperative care, with emphasis on education and postoperative planning.

The role requires nursing licensure, BLS, and at least 1 year of OR experience; BSN/MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN licensure in Maryland or Compact State.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating).

Responsibilities

• Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates nursing process to plan and manage care for routine patients.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Perform pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and physical examinations.
• Perform scrub functions including instrument handling during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring and communicating patient condition.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and ensure safety and comfort during surgery.
• Assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation.
• Educate patients and family; plan continuum of care.
