Job summary

Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant for the PCU Surgical - 4D unit. The role supports a high-acuity, 37-bed unit with patients recovering from surgery or cardiac issues. Day shift is 6am–6:30pm; weekend/holiday rotations apply.

This full-time position emphasizes direct patient care, data collection, documentation, and collaboration with licensed staff in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current CNA in state of practice.
• 1 year of medical clerical experience or hospital/physician office experience.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy.
• ECG/EEG interpretation training or course completion required for some departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and basic patient care.
• Collect vitals, specimens, and document data in medical records.
• Communicate patient status to caregivers for continuity of care.
• Assist with procedures and use of equipment under supervision.
• Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support department operations.
• Maintain patient records, charts, and supplies; process orders as needed.
• Support transport of patients and OR turnover as assigned.
