Job summary

Sonora Quest Laboratories in Sun City, AZ is seeking a Surgical Pathology Aide to support specimen accessioning, labeling and processing for surgical and cytology cases. Primary duties include receiving, triaging, preparing cassettes, and assisting pathologists during frozen sections and autopsies.

This role requires high school diploma, up to 6 months of medical lab experience, strong communication and typing skills, and proficiency with Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 6 months of medical laboratory specimen handling experience.
• Good communication, comprehension and typing skills.
• Solid understanding of commonly used pathology concepts and procedures.
• Evidence of increasing responsibility in personnel interaction and organization.
• Strong ability to prioritize and multitask; familiarity with Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Receives, accession and labels specimens ensuring proper ID and integrity.
• Assists with frozen sections and autopsies as required.
• Prepares cassettes and containers for shipment; manages paperwork.
• Provides clerical support and triages calls to pathologists.
• Maintains staining protocols and filing systems for slides/blocks.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance and record-keeping.
