Job summary

Sonora Quest Laboratories/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona is seeking a Surgical Pathology support staff member for the Boswell location in Sun City, AZ. Day shift responsibilities include receiving and triaging tissue specimens, assisting with frozen sections, bone marrows and fine needle aspirations, and providing clerical support.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 6 months of medical lab experience, with strong communication, typing, and computer skills (Word/Excel).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months medical lab specimen handling experience.
• Good communication, comprehension and typing skills.
• Understanding of pathology concepts and procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask with strong organizational skills.
• Familiarity with Word and Excel required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, accession and label specimens; ensure proper ID and integrity.
• Assist with frozen sections by operating a cryostat and preparing specimens.
• Support autopsies by ensuring supplies and proper documentation.
• Assist with fine needle aspirations and bone marrows as directed.
• Provide clerical support and triage calls to pathologists or staff.
• Maintain equipment, staining protocols and slide/block filing systems.
