Job summary

bmc Pathology Lab is seeking a Grossing Technician to assist with surgical, biopsy, and autopsy specimen dissection and preparation. The role supports pathologists and residents, handling paperwork, supplies, and workflow in the surgical pathology area.

The technician will gross specimens, assist with frozen sections, maintain equipment, and ensure infection control and safety across the dissection suites and mortuary facilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grossing surgical biopsies and autopsy specimens.
• Knowledge of routine histologic staining and tissue preparation.
• Ability to organize, inventory, and stock laboratory supplies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and gross surgical, biopsies and autopsy specimens per SOPs.
• Assist pathologists by processing tissues for microscopic evaluation.
• Maintain cleanliness and infection control in dissection suites and mortuary.
• Manage supplies and inventory; coordinate deliveries to labs and satellite offices.
• Support Decedent Affairs Office with documentation and autopsy-related tasks.
• Record statistics on cases, blocks, slides, and stains daily.
