Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Mercy Hospital seeks a path-tology support professional to perform gross examinations, tissue sampling, and accurate descriptions. You will manage workloads to meet TAT and specimen requirements, maintain equipment, and ensure high standards of safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include training staff, documenting procedures, and contributing to archival and digital storage of tissue images while upholding accreditation guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a science-related field (preferably chemistry, biology or immunology)
• Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred
• 1+ years of experience with grossing routine specimens (gallbladder, appendix, uterus, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Performs gross examinations, dissection, and description of tissues.
• Workload is prioritized to meet Turn-Around-Time and specimen requirements.
• Maintains equipment and guarantees accuracy of gross descriptions and dictations.
• Trains and educates laboratory personnel in processing of surgical tissues.
• Ensures safety, quality, and compliance in gross room activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in a science-related field

Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists preferred
